September is National Suicide Prevention Month, and WSD will be hosting Care Day - Wear Yellow day on Tuesday, September 29th, 2020. The goal is to encourage EVERYONE, staff, students, and our community to wear yellow for this day to help raise awareness for #SuicidePrevention, care, and remind everyone of the importance of taking care of ourselves and one another.
We want everyone at WSD to know that they have someone here that cares and is willing to listen. We will all try to uphold our district's school-wide behavior expectations which are to Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Involved. By showing that we care every day for the month September and all year round we encourage you to do one of the following things:
Yellow is more than a color;
- It’s about well-being and happiness through education
- It’s about spreading optimism
- Kindness initiatives
Smile at a stranger
Help someone out
Compliment someone
Make a new friend
Join a new club
Reach out to an old friend
Ask how someone's day is going
Becoming more educated about mental health through interactive discussions
- Learning effective ways to build resiliency and positive coping skills
- Positive self-care
