MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT: WELCOME TO 2023!!! 🍾🎉🥂 I hope you were all able to enjoy some well-deserved time off 🧘 and ready for the 2nd half of the school year. 💪
As I look back on 2022, I can’t help but be excited for 2023 and think about…🤔
The majority of our Admin team with less than 2 years experience in their current roles. This has led to tremendous growth opportunities and new learnings (nearly every day).
The massive, complex, nearly $50 million WSD Budget. The Finance Department, HR, and T&L have been working extremely hard over the past year to learn everything about our budget. We’ll be in an outstanding position to make decisions in the future and start preparing the 2023-24 budget later this month.
Not only have we started to put processes & procedures in place that are becoming reliable & predictable, but we are committing them to writing and offering staff PD.
Added Jumpstart, Warrior Academy Days, after-school interventions, and intramurals.
Replaced all our student technology, added Promethean Boards to over 75% of our classrooms and upgraded our security cameras.
Attending “in-person” Staff PD: PLC Institute for district staff, WASWUG & WASBO for our secretaries, Dual Language for elementary staff, AVID for secondary teachers, National Migrant Conference for district staff, SHAPE for our PE teachers, ASCA for our counselors, Ron Clark for our principals, and WSSDA for our school board. These investments in WSD staff will no doubt help lead to our student’s success.
The return of Robotics, the Amazing Warrior Shake, and the “Junior” Shake.
Adopting a new Social Studies curriculum and working through a new Health curriculum. Also, added the K-5 Highly Capable program.
Added 2 new portables, our grounds look amazing, and had a much needed surplus sale. All while battling wind, snow, and ice storms.
A renewed partnership with the Wanapum & Yakama indians. This relationship has helped ensure that WSD will remain the “Warriors” for years to come; but has also led to work on our “Since Time & Immemorial Curriculum” and possible language classes.
