Wahluke School District

Wahluke School District and our Transportation Department are committed and working to find creative ways to find a solution so that all our students receive transportation. For the time being, our short-term solution is to have students who live on the following roads and bus routes. Be picked up and dropped off at a later time. MORNING PICK UP: Students will need to be at their designated bus stop at 7:40 AM to allow enough time for bus drivers to pick them up. Students will arrive at school between 8:00 AM - 8:15 AM. BUS ROUTES: Route 3 (only on the roads listed on our website article) Route 4 Route 6 AFTERNOON DROP-OFF: Students in the bus routes and roads listed above will stay in their school building until about 3:50 PM and arrive home between 4:00 PM - 4:15 PM. School buildings will have snacks available for students waiting for the bus, and schools will have supervision available for them. School Buildings will be working with the 21st Century and other programs to have intervention opportunities during the wait time. WSD will follow this procedure until the end of September and will communicate any changes we have. We ask for your patience and help. We would greatly appreciate it if parents or guardians could help the district and transportation department drop off and pick up students to and from school. We understand that this is our short-term solution and can assure you that we are working with our transportation department to recruit bus drivers in our area. WSD is partnering up with the Mattawa Community Medical Clinic and Columbia Basin Health Association to host a COVID-19c Vaccination Clinics. The vaccine clinic will be at the Wahluke High School Commons. From 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM – No appointment is necessary. – Parents or guardians will need to be available for consent for students younger than 18. To accommodate this, starting tomorrow – September 1st. Students on bus routes 3,4 and 6 will be picked up 30 minutes later and dropped off 1 hour later than our usual bussing schedule. Parents will have the option to pick up or drop off students. Please contact your building if you plan to transport your student. Our District is committed to being creative to find a solution to our district and region bus driver shortage so that all of our students receive transportation. Congratulations, Mrs. Ziegler Donna Ziegler was recognized on Thursday for 25 years of service to Wahluke School District. She was awarded a crystal apple statuette by WSD Superintendent Andy Harlow and Human Resources Director Liz Leitz at a special ceremony in her honor. We are grateful and proud to have had Mrs. Ziegler, as the Transportation Director in our district and offer our heartfelt congratulations to her in recognition of this service milestone. We would also like to share a special moment as Mrs. Leitz and Mrs.Ziegler completed their last WSD Bus Tour together, which is a tradition they started together.
